Restoring Comfort: Our Cleaning for a Reason Partnership

When someone gets a cancer diagnosis, life fills up fast with treatments, appointments, and a whirlwind of emotion. In the middle of all that, an ordinary task like cleaning the house can turn into an overwhelming burden. That is exactly where Cleaning for a Reason steps in, and it is one of the parts of this work I am most proud of.

What Cleaning for a Reason does

Founded in 2006, Cleaning for a Reason partners with professional cleaning companies across the United States and Canada to offer free home cleaning to people undergoing cancer treatment. Because of the companies who donate their time, patients get to focus on their health instead of their housework.

We have been a proud partner since our earliest days, and the impact goes well beyond a tidy home. For someone in treatment, a clean and organized space brings a sense of comfort, normalcy, and control when so much feels out of their hands. It also matters for their health directly. A cleaner home means fewer germs and a safer space for an immune system worn down by treatment.

Why a cleaning company cares this much

To me, this is what community looks like. When cleaning companies, volunteers, and supporters rally together, small acts of kindness add up to something powerful. Cleaning for a Reason has now provided more than 40,000 free cleanings to cancer patients, a little light offered during some of the hardest days a family can face.
